The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the group enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
