Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult season, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former coach Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt since March of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my child her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the last five games to take the lead.

Both players traded service breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden tour victory, gained dominance to force a final set.

Moutet rescued four initial break points in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
